Diamond Electronics Limited is committed to comply with E.U. Directive 2002/95/EC "The Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances". The RoHS Directive restricts the use of substances including lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, and certain halogenated flame-retardants such as PBB and PBDE in electrical and electronic equipment.
Diamond currently supplies a broad spectrum of market segments in both the UK and international markets. As such we still need to be able to offer non-compliant parts to customers who are exempt from the directive for whatever reason. To accommodate this we have designed our trading software to cope with both compliant and non-compliant demands. Customers are advised both on our despatch notes and component labels of the RoHS status of the parts we are shipping.
Customers can choose to advise us by letter that their company only requires complaint product or their requirements may be stipulated at the time of an individual enquiry or purchase order.
We have updated our Quality Management System in line with EIA/ECCB-954 (RoHS Trusted Kitemark Scheme); we aim to be approved by this scheme by the end of July 2006.
We are able to identify stock codes on our system, which are advised to us as RoHS compliant. This information is obtained when the product arrives in our warehouse and, once recorded, stays with the parts all the way through the system to the outgoing delivery note .
We are now recording the status of all parts on our system as they arrive at Diamond. Does your paperwork incorporate RoHS compliant identification? The status of each batch is currently presented on our labels and despatch notes that are sent with the products.
Our normal system works on a strict FIFO basis, however since it is based on a random binning principle this will allow us where necessary to allocate product from bins containing only compliant parts.
All Supplier have been allocated a risk status, this determines how much we trust the information they give us. If their risk status is "high", further evidence is obtained, such as the use of XFR analysis.
Diamond Electronics will use the following on our labels
RoHS Compliance YES
RoHS Compliance NO
RoHS Compliance UNKNOWN
RoHS Compliance EXEMPT
